Trash Diary 1

Surprisingly, on my first day, I didn't have too much trash to throw away; a paper cup with a plastic lid/straw, the packaging from a set of guitar strings as well as the individual envelopes for the strings and the old strings (not pictured), and last but not least, the dreaded Styrofoam Dixie plate. After reviewing what exactly happens to the plate and the cup (http://www.scgh.com/featured/pop-goes-the-polystyrene/, and http://www.thebetacup.com/about/) I definitely can see that there are some bad choices made there and instead of using those products, it would've been better to just use a real plate/cup. As for the guitar strings... It's a little harder for me to change what I use because each company, although they produce the same gauges of strings, do not make them the same, and therefore, my guitar's sound would be altered. D'Addario String Co. has implemented a new "Eco-Efficient" packaging that's smaller and is made from recycled material (which I use on one guitar) maybe if I were to contact Ernie Ball String Co. about manufacturing a similar packaging and possibly allowing a consumer to send them their old strings in order for them to maybe take parts to create a "recycled string", many people would feel less ashamed of using their product(s).
